Growing up, ShapeTX Scientist and artist Lina Bagapelli imagined that to have an impact on patient care, she’d need to become a doctor. Instead, she discovered that working in a lab allows her to see the science behind disease treatment and apply her background in biology to help patients in a different way. At ShapeTX, she works to create efficient, specific ways to correct genetic mutations that cause disease using ADAR.
At times, Lina notices that her scientific work mirrors her painting: in both pursuits, she finds the balance between control and experimentation. Her time in the lab makes the scientific process come alive, just as mixing colors on a canvas reflects her inner life and mood with something tangible.
